On Hulu's blog, CEO Jason Kilar revealed some results from the first quarter. Chiefly, Kilar reports that the "content community" will earn about $300 million through Hulu in 2011 and that the platform now boasts 289 advertisers, up from 194 in Q1 2010.
Hulu also grew the number of content partners to Hulu Plus and Hulu from 211 in Q1 2010 to 264 in Q1 2011. Those include some Viacom brands like BET, Comedy Central, MTV and VH1. The company also reports that it is on pace to surpass 1 million Hulu Plus subscribers this year.
The news isn't completely unexpected. Speaking at the Internet Advertising Bureau's 2011 Annual Leadership Meeting in Palm Springs, California, in late February, Kilar predicted the same revenues. But the up beat outlook also comes after another report in January that Disney and Fox were considering pulling content from the site because they were uncertain about the three-year-old company's business model.
