Couric, the former Today Show co-anchor, who left the CBS Evening News last month after almost five years, will be reunited with Jeff Zucker, the former Today producer. Zucker will be the executive producer with Couric on the yet-to-be-named syndicated series.
In a statement, Couric said she was happy to be returning to ABC, where she began her career as a desk assistant in 1979.
Couric’s move is the latest high-profile switch in the news business. In January, Keith Olbermann abruptly left MSNBC’s Countdown, and Meredith Vieira announced last month that she was leaving Today. Ann Curry will replace her as co-host.
