Oh, the power of the Internet. Remember Joshua Kaufman, who put up a Tumblr just the other day featuring pictures of the man who stole his laptop taken with security app, Hidden? Well, it seems the cops have finally nabbed the thief.
The MacBook in question was lifted from interaction designer Kaufman‘s Oakland, CA, apartment March 21, along with a few pieces of jewelry. Luckily, Kaufman had installed the Hidden app on his computer back in December, which allowed him to capture pictures of the thief — as well as his Google ID — and create a Tumblr dedicated to the missing computer, This Guy Has My MacBook, which went live last Friday.
The New York Daily News reports that Kaufman received little help initially from the cops when it came to recovering the laptop, although he knew exactly where it was located thanks to the app (which makes sense, the crime is rath er low priority), but after the story received a flood of media attention yesterday, Oakland police arrested the man in the photos.
